Having made its maiden voyage for Sail and Bike Tours in spring 2018, the sailing ship Leafde fan Fryslân is an impressive three-mast, 27 passenger barquentine in which the luxury of the modern world meets the charm of ages past. Owner-operators Joris and Rinske de Wit bring a wealth of management experience to this magnificent ship which will be sailing both the Frisian Sea Tour (unguided and the IJsselmeer tour (guided).
The lower deck is comprised of twelve well-appointed twin cabins (10 m² – 107 sq.ft.) and one single cabin (8 m² – 86 sq.ft.). The twin cabins all have single beds that can be set as a double in most cabins or can sleep three via the inclusion of a bunk bed (on request). All cabins have en-suite bathrooms with showers, basins and toilets as well as ventilation, heating, portholes and a hatch that can be opened. A mini safe and hairdryer are included in all cabins.
The restaurant, which has been decorated in true nautical style and where you’ll enjoy many a sumptuous meal, is also located on the lower deck. However, the upper deck is truly the crown jewel of the Leafde fan Fryslân. The wheelhouse on the upper deck offers a cozy lounge which not only includes a plentiful seating area, TV, Wi-Fi and a well-stocked bar, but also boasts magnificent panoramic windows.
The wheelhouse and deck are by far the best spots on the ship to relax with an evening aperitif as you watch the sun set over the canals en route to the next day’s adventure.
