Watching the beautiful three-mast schooner that is the Mare fan Fryslân sail gracefully through the waves of the Frisian Sea Tour, you’d hardly believe this ship was originally built in 1960 as a freight ship. Owned by Joris and Rinske de Wit, the Mare fan Fryslân accommodates a maximum of 40 passengers and has a sail that can be operated electronically, or by hand.
The lower deck comprises of 14 comfortable cabins, 12 of which are twin cabins (9 m² – 97 sq.ft. ), one of which is a junior suite (11 m² – 118 sq.ft.) and one of which is a single cabin (6 m² – 65 sq.ft.). All cabins (except the single) have two separate single beds that can be set together, an en-suite shower, basin and toilet, ventilation, central heating, portholes that can be opened, a mini safe and a hairdryer. The junior suite has the added benefit of a small sitting area and a flat screen TV.
The lower deck has an intimate lounge and restaurant area decorated with wooden panelling that is fully decorated and has a friendly, inviting atmosphere. The wheelhouse on the upper deck is the life and soul of the ship and features a large seating area with well-equipped bar, a TV, music & video equipment and Wi-Fi throughout. The panoramic views from the wheelhouse are truly breath-taking and matched only by the wooden upper deck which. Much to the delight of our guests, has plenty of seating, an outdoor bar with draught beer tap and a grill and even a Jacuzzi which offers the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the scenery on balmy summer days.
