The Zwaantje (little swan) couldn’t ask for a better couple to own and operate her. Martin van Tatenhove and Marjorie Kersten not only have vast experience as operators of passenger barges, but Martin (the Zwaantje’s captain) was born to a family who work in the hotel and restaurant business and is also a licensed chef. Marjorie graduated in Tourism at the Breda high School and is a seasoned PR veteran. Together, they have restyled the Zwaantje, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere perfectly suited for a passenger barge sailing Belgium, France and The Netherlands under Dutch flag and management.
The Zwaantje accommodates intimate groups of no more than 24 passengers in its 12 lower deck guest cabins. Ten of the cabins are twins (7 m² – 75 sq.ft.) and two are doubles (6 m² – 65 sq.ft.). The twins have two separate single beds, whereas the double has (you guessed it!) a double bed.
All cabins have private showers, basins and toilets, as well as ventilation, air-conditioning, central heating and windows that are fixed in the twins for safety reasons but can be opened in the doubles. Each room also has a mini safe and hair dryer.
On the upper deck, you cannot beat the cozy salon with its large, panoramic views, restaurant area, lounge corner, small bar, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. Well, unless you head up to the spacious sundeck with tables and chairs on which you can relax and drink in the scenery and the odd aperitif as you watch the breath-taking scenery drift on by.
