Trip met expectations. Food and accommodations were by and large great. Could have had a bit more extensive breakfast service but dinner was very good. Bike tour guiding was generally satisfactory given dealing with 20 riders of varying fitness and travelling speed differences. A little more educational time spent on what we were seeing on the the daily rides might have improved the experience a bit. Crew was quick to respond to any requests however.

We enjoyed every aspect of the trip – from the thorough and easy booking process, the time spent riding, the guided evening walks, to the dining aboard. The staff are superb: professional yet relaxed, good-humoured and accommodating to special requests. The bikes were comfortable, the food was delicious and the rooms were good. We would definitely recommend Eurosail and would take another trip in the future. One small negative for me: the lack of a solid wifi connection as most travellers have come to expect this and find it necessary for communication.

I didn’t like the fact that now Eurosail is just an agent for Girolibero. And I didn’t like that only one guide was provided for 20 people. On past tours I’ve been on, they use 2 guides and break up into two groups. Slow people in one group, faster, more experianced people in another. This is safer. Food was great. Didn’t care for the boat we were on in Italy. The Vita-Pugna didn’t have a lounge where you could relax after the ride. We were kicked out of the dining area so the crew could set the tables for dinner. Weather was bad, so we couldn’t go and sit outside. Probably will not go with this company again.

Our Bike and Boat Tour through northern Italy was fantastic. We look forward to future trips in other countries with Eurosail.

We recently took a bike n boat tour from Venice to Mantova. The crew was a delight, the food was excellent and the accommodations were clean. BIKING was NOT good! The biking was another matter all together. While the bikes were in great condition, this is not a trip for anyone who wants to bike at least 40-50 miles/day and get some exercise while seeing the country. The first problem we encountered was the lack of bike etiquette with the other guests. Eurosail SHOULD gather everyone the 1st evening and review this simply for safety. I believe there were guests on this trip that hadn’t biked since they were twelve. WE had a big family from Indiana on the trip that was completely oblivious to bike etiquette. The teenagers swerved in and out of bikers whenever they felt like it. They were bored with the biking and it showed. Passing on the left was totally an anomaly. It was quite dangerous. WE had a delightful 82 year old and his wife as well as a 76 year old grandma using electric bikes that they had difficulty handling due to the weight of the bike. I watched the 76 year old topple over several times causing several of us to nearly miss her. I was envisioning several fractures that could have happened. There were 2 leaders one of which had no idea about communication when leading a large group. She would just stop never once letting anyone know she was slowing or stopping. No verbal communication at all. We decided after the first day that in order to get additional mileage in as well as avoid the dangerous bikers we would go out on our own. We discovered that the additional mileage in the maps was not correct and the leaders did not have a true sense of how long each route would take. This caused us angst as we had to meet the boat at a certain time or it just left This did not allow us to pick up extra mileage. If you enjoy following a leader at less that 10 mph and don’t mind possibly crashing into a biker that cannot handle their bike, then this trip is for you. Like I said in the beginning-the food was excellent, the crew were hard working and delightful and the boat was great. Eurosail really needs to address the biking portion of this tour. Also, I would like to have know there were going to be kids on this trip and perhaps choose and adult only bike n boat.

We recently took a Bike and Barge tour from Amsterdam to Brugge. The trip was first rate in every way from the food offerings to the rooms to the the on-board staff. We had a very enjoyable time on our trip and look forward to another opportunity to sail with Eurosail!

Time alone- the tour guide monopolized all our free time, so we didn’t have time to relax after the bike ride, before dinner and after dinner. After the tour, we should have been able to have some time with our spouses and to rest and read. The most we had was 15 min and then it was on to something else. He spent a lot of time recapping the ride etc. There should have been an option, to meet in the dining room if you wanted to recap the ride. He did it on the deck. There were only two public places, Deck and dining room and if its nice out the deck was the place to be. He interrupted during dinner, (again captive audience) which I find the best time to chat and get to know others is during and the time after dinner, when everyone is fed, good drinks etc. Dog on board-this should have been very CLEAR and if I would have known it, I wouldn’t have booked. The captain was inconsiderate of keeping his dog contained. I voiced my feeling right away and he said you will get used to him as hes a good dog. However, I have been bit twice by good dogs. The first mate however, did all he could to shoo him away. I spent my whole trip watching to see where the dog was and going someplace else. If I was on the deck first and he came, I put my feet up so he couldn’t get me, but it wasn’t a pleasant experience. Time on tour- tour guide talked too much at each site and it seemed like he was stalling for time so we didn’t get back earlier than the other slow group. Biking by ourselves with others- I checked before hand if we could bike by ourselves in a small group. My husband and I have been to 6 countries that we mapped our bike rides ourselves. I also told the tour guide this when he complained. I also said its easier here than anywhere. You have the spires for towns, we had a gps and a regular map. It was bike by number in the Netherlands and Belgium, easiest we ever had. He then was reluctant to let us know if he was taking an alternate route to see something else. I think we still paid for a tour guide, even if we only went with him sometimes, but it didn’t feel like we were a customer at all. Food – good- the chef did an excellent job of cooking interesting meals. Barge- good – no airconditioning and I think next time I would choose a boat with that option. Otherwise, everything as expected. Captain- He did a good job navigating, but no consideration about the dog. I would not sail with him again. First mate- excellent. He did everything in his power to make your trip enjoyable. I would recommend him to anyone. If this is what to expect on a tour, I won’t be on a bike and barge again. I thought we would ride to catch up with our barge. Start early, be back by 2 0r 3ish to enjoy some time alone, and to see the city. I would have liked to eat dinner in most towns instead of on the boat. More time to enjoy the place and free time for ourselves after the ride. Thank you
